SETTING DRILLS

Practice. Practice. Practice
As more & more volleyball players & coaches are posting on YouTube, I thought I would share some interesting ones for athletes to work on individual skills.

For Setters:
In the "Epic Volleyball Trick Shots", please note 2 skills for your to work on.
1. In the first demo, "JUGGLING" is a skill that I teach to all young athletes.  This skill improves your "hand-eye" coordination along with moving your feet in rhythm with your body.  It is a great skill to develop your multi-tasking skill & "confusion" so that when you actually play the game, it now seems slower as you are only dealing with 1 ball instead of 3.

Tip:  Practice first with tennis balls or bean bags at home... as you get better move on to volleyballs.  Let me know your progress with this skill!!

2. Third athlete demo "Volleyball Juggling Seated Finish" (video from :33-:42) is a skill to practice your body awareness in conjunction with the ball.  You can vary by in between each set, bounce off forehead, knee, foot etc. and finish with sitting down/standing up.  Also the practice laying on your back and volleying the ball
i/ in front & back of legs (as shown)
ii/ alternating legs (not shown)
iii/ lying on back and do a "log roll" and gain control of ball again (not shown, tougher)

3. Various demo's with basketball hoop as that is a defined target and you will know if you succeed or not.  Can practice in your driveway playing the game of "HORSE" with a basketball net, but instead of shooting the ball in bball-style, set the ball allowing only one bounce.  These will help out with anticipating moving to the ball & "squaring up your shoulders/hips/feet to ball".

The more contacts you make outside the gym to improve your hands will translate into better results in practices & games.
