Welcome Players, Coaches, Teachers!!
As some of you may already know, I have come back to the wonderful world of volleyball and ready to "inspire a generation" as I have been re-inspired after being at the 2012 London Olympic Games.
Volleyball was one of the marquee sports in London, with everyone clamouring to get tickets to indoor and beach even Prince Harry was a regular at the beautiful Horse Guard Parade beach venue just down the street from Buckingham Palace. The tickets were sold out and the fans came to watch, cheer and have a great time doing so. The volleyball was spectacular with only Misty/Kerri winning the expected gold medal. The other 3 golds went in upsets!! That is the great thing about volleyball, any team can win on any given day!!
If you are new to my page, please follow my Olympic adventure under "London Blog" and "London Pictures".
I am available for your school or club practices and as well if there is any player that would like individual skill training to take their game up a notch that can be arranged also.

Diane the Player

I love volleyball.
I spent 10 years as a player representing Canada around the world as a member of the National Women's Volleyball.
Twice, I have had the great privilege of wearing the Maple Leaf at the Olympic Games.
In 1984 at the Los Angeles Games, I was a middle blocker and 12 years later I was the setter for Canada at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. I am the only female from Ontario to represent indoor volleyball at the Olympics.
Since I started playing, I have won many championships, All-star and MVP awards at many levels including age-club, Big Ten Championships at university, national team, professional volleyball in USA, and even beach!!

I love teaching.
I have a vast amount of volleyball knowledge stirring inside me that is bursting to get out and
to teach YOU what I know. .
In absorbing so much as a player, in conducting my own volleyball clinics, in being a motivational speaker and add 3 years of university coaching experience, I have successfully been able to translate all "that repetition" into an informative, easy-going, yet challenging teaching style.
My expertise is picking out the small details that will elevate your game to the next level.
"We had Diane come in and run an "inspirational practice / skill session" for our junior and senior girls volleyball teams. It was a huge success. Diane's expertise with volleyball skills combined with her vast competitive experience and background, and her encouraging manner made the experience really valuable. Our girls incorporated several of her lessons immediately and continued to use them throughout the season. We are looking forward to having her back in next season."
Sharon MacFarlane, coach at Stouffville District SS
Hi Diane,
Just wanted to say thank you for your help this year with the STVC Tektonics. During your clinic, you helped me and the players look at drills differently. Over the course of the year, our setting improved as we incorporated many of your suggestions. Your discussion on mental preparedness and seeing volleyball as a means to other goals such as education and travel truly helped.
I am happy to report our team won gold at Nationals in Sherbrooke, Quebec on the weekend. It was an exciting three days. The outcome was a result of contributions by many people including yourself.
Thank you again,
Bart Arsenault
Coach, STVC U14 Tektonics
Diane the Motivator

I love inspiring.
I believe that we can all achieve our goals and dreams, the only catch is that you need to follow your internal compass and work hard to get it!!. With my gentle "nudging" and dislike for the word "can't", I make volleyball fun and inspire you through positive and constructive teachings. I have been guided to reach my goals that I unknowingly set at the age of 13 through a strong work ethic, a positive attitude and a strong desire to win.
SUCCESS IS AN ATTITUDE!!
VOLLEYBALL IN CANADA
"Lausanne, Switzerland, March 29, 2012 - The volleyball tournament for the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal was a revelation for the Canadian public. What had been for most an occasional pastime with flexible rules became a passion during the Games.
As the tournament went on the number of spectators increased, culminating in an attendance of 15,602 to witness Poland take the men’s title and Japan the women’s. On the day of the finals the sound inside Montreal’s Forum was akin to a Canadian international ice hockey match, and the 150,056 spectators who attended the 24 matches represented no less than 92 per cent capacity"

The next generation of volleyball enthusiasts emerged when Canada won the bronze medal in beach volleyball at the 1996 Olympics. Those fans have now discovered this fast paced, fun filled and intense game of volleyball that offers great social and team interactions. Since beach is a short season in Canada, many players have also discovered that the game comes indoors to continue the volleyball passion all year round.
I discovered volleyball shortly after the Montreal games where my passion for the Olympics itself was ignited. Ironically my first "away" tournament was to Montreal, it was truly an inspirational moment for me as I felt the energy of the athletes that had walked the same grounds a year earlier - talk about foreshadowing!!
